Purpose – Ministry leaders and support personnel serve under the leadership of the Executive Team at Highlands Church in order to execute on the mission, vision, and purpose of the Highlands Church strategic plan.
Role Details
- 5 hours per week
- Supervised by and accountable to Co-Pastor
- Works collaboratively with the staff and community of Highlands Church
- Feed, protect, oversee, teach and love members of the Highlands Church community
Qualifications and skill sets needed
- Detail oriented
- Strong musical background and experience – both performing and coordinating multi-personnel performances
- Ability to support, encourage, celebrate, and organize volunteers and volunteer support systems
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Clear boundaries and sexual ethics

Ministry work
Musical
Select music for Sunday services with thoughtful consideration of specific musicians, preaching message, and needs of congregationSometimes lead band rehearsals before Sunday services
Manage Youth Band 2x/year (October and May) (or oversee Volunteer Leader)
Select music for VBS and secure song leader for VBS week (or oversee Volunteer Leader)
Bring in new music as needed
Research and select music based on Highlands Church matrix/criteria and in collaboration with Worship Co-Pastor
Chart/arrange new music in Sibelius, including written melody/lyrics
Lead All Band Rehearsals (2x/year, typically Aug/Jan)
Curate fun environment where the goal is creative exploration, collaboration and deepening friendships among the musicians
Coordinate Gala musical entertainment (March – Dec)
Research music connected to the chosen theme and build playlist for consideration
Collaborate with Co-Pastor and team to select songs and featured performers
Set rehearsal schedule
Communicate with and secure performers
Purchase/create charts for musicians
Rehearse musicians
Lead the team to practice authentic worship and musical excellence in order to create a hospitable environment for Highlanders to connect with God and each other
Administrative
Lead new Worship Team volunteers through the onboarding process (email, shadowing, skills demonstration, virtual orientation)
Communicate with Sunday morning volunteer teams (Instrumental Musicians, Vocal Musicians, A/V Team and Presiders)
Gather availability/blockout dates
Schedule in PlanningCenter
Manage schedule changes
Build and maintain services in PlanningCenter
Ensure stage is set for Sunday morning worship team
Update ProPresenter song and liturgy slides for Sunday morning worship
Ensure binders are updated with new charts
Guide volunteer worship leaders in choosing songs and liturgy
Attend monthly Highlands All Staff Meetings when possible
Adhere to the policies and procedures of Highlands Church
Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly pay rate of $20-$22 per hour
Eligible for PTO and holiday pay in accordance with the Employee Manual
